Anxiety Therapy in Brentwood, TN
You’ve been strong for so long. Here, you can finally set some of it down.
You’ve been strong for so long. Here, you can finally set some of it down.
From the outside, everything looks fine. You’re the one people count on, the one who remembers the details and keeps everything moving. On the inside, it’s a different story. Your mind rarely rests, your body feels wound tight, and the old way of pushing through isn’t working the way it used to.
If that sounds familiar, I’m really glad you found your way here. Anxiety is incredibly common, and it’s very treatable. Nothing about it means you’re broken. More often, it means your nervous system has been working overtime for a long while, doing its very best to keep you safe.
My office is in Maryland Farms, right here in Brentwood, and I work with adults 18 and over.
Free 10 minute consultation. Call or text 615-905-6132.

What anxiety can feel like from the inside
Anxiety doesn’t always look like panic. Often it’s quieter than that, and it can show up in ways you haven’t put a name to yet:
Lying awake replaying a conversation, or planning tomorrow before today is even over
Feeling on edge or short tempered, then feeling guilty about it afterward
Tight shoulders, a heavy chest, or a stomach that just won’t settle
Saying yes when you’d rather say no, because letting someone down feels unbearable
Feeling exhausted and still not being able to truly rest
You don’t have to wait until things fall apart to reach out. Feeling this way is reason enough, and wanting to feel better is exactly the right place to begin.
How we’ll work together
I believe you are the expert on you, so our work together is a true partnership. We’ll move at a pace that feels comfortable to you, and I’ll check in often along the way.
We’ll start by helping your body and mind feel a little calmer, because it’s hard to heal anything while you’re running on high alert. From there, we’ll gently explore what sits underneath the anxiety, the experiences and patterns that keep setting it off. Depending on what fits you best, that might include:
EMDR, which helps your brain process difficult experiences so they carry less emotional charge
Brainspotting, which uses where you look to reach stress that’s hard to put into words, and helps your nervous system rebalance
Talk therapy and Trauma Focused CBT, where you’ll learn practical coping skills for the moments anxiety starts to build
Many of the people I work with have already tried talk therapy and found it helpful up to a point. I pick up where talk therapy leaves off. You can also read more about how I approach anxiety.
Who you’ll be working with
I’m Dave Saunders, a Licensed Professional Counselor and Mental Health Service Provider in Tennessee and a Nationally Certified Counselor. My Tennessee license number is 5093. I hold an MA from Trevecca Nazarene University and a BS from the University of Tennessee. I’m Level II trained in both EMDR and Brainspotting, and trained in Trauma Focused CBT.
Over the last ten years, I’ve walked beside hundreds of people as they found their way back to calm. Sometimes that means talking about things you’ve never said out loud to anyone. I can handle the heavy stuff, and so can you. More about me and how I work.
Location, hours and fees
My office is at 103 Continental Place, Suite 204, Brentwood, TN 37027, in Maryland Farms, with easy access from I-65 and Old Hickory Boulevard. I see clients Monday to Friday, 8 am to 6 pm.
EMDR and Brainspotting take place in person, in the calm of the office, because that’s where I’ve found they’re safest and most effective.
Sessions are $195. I don’t bill insurance, but I’m happy to give you a superbill to submit for out of network reimbursement, and you’re welcome to pay with an HSA card. If you need to cancel, please let me know at least 48 hours before your session. Later cancellations are charged the full fee.
Questions worth asking before you start
-
Everyone feels worried or overwhelmed from time to time. When those feelings stick around and start to get in the way of your work, your sleep, or the people you love, that’s usually anxiety asking for some care. You don’t need a diagnosis to reach out. We can figure out what’s going on together.
-
They’re different, but they often travel together. Burnout is the deep physical and emotional exhaustion that comes from stress that never lets up. Anxiety is the worry, nervousness, or fear that keeps you on alert. Many people I see are carrying a bit of both, and we can care for each of them.
-
Weekly is best, and every other week can work well too. Meeting at least every other week helps us build momentum, so the work keeps moving forward.
-
There may be moments when we talk about things that aren’t easy, and that’s a natural part of growing. As we get to know each other, it gets easier, and you’re always the one who sets the pace.

A free 10 minute consultation is a gentle way to begin. You can ask me anything, get a feel for how I work, and decide whether we’re a good fit. If we are, we’ll find a time for your first session.
