Anxiety Therapy in Franklin, TN
You take such good care of everyone else. Let this be a place that takes care of you.
Maybe you’re the steady one in your family, the planner, the one who notices what everyone needs before they ask. Lately, though, little things set you off. You snap at the people you love most, then lie awake feeling awful about it. You miss the version of yourself who felt patient and present.
Please be gentle with yourself about that. Feeling irritable or on edge is one of the common signs of anxiety listed by the National Institute of Mental Health, and it tends to grow when you’ve been carrying a lot for a long time.
I welcome adults from Franklin at my office in Maryland Farms, just up I-65 in Brentwood.
Free 10 minute consultation. Call or text 615-905-6132.

When anxiety comes home with you
Anxiety rarely stays in one corner of your life. It follows you into the kitchen, the car, and the quiet evenings you meant to enjoy. You might notice:
A short fuse over things that wouldn’t have bothered you a year ago
Pulling away when someone wants to be close, or holding on a little too tightly
Worrying about the people you love, even when everything is fine
Never quite switching off enough to enjoy your time together
None of this makes you a bad partner, parent, or friend. It means your nervous system is overloaded, and it’s asking for some tenderness.
Finding your calm again
Together, we’ll help your body step out of constant fight or flight, so there’s more room to pause before you react. You’ll learn practical skills for the tense moments, and we’ll gently explore the experiences underneath the anxiety, the ones that keep your system braced for trouble.
I use a blend of approaches: EMDR to process experiences that keep getting triggered, Brainspotting to help your nervous system rebalance, and talk therapy with Trauma Focused CBT to untangle the thought patterns that keep anxiety going. You can read more about how I approach anxiety.
My hope for you is more patience, more warmth, and more energy for the people and moments you love.

Questions you might be asking
-
It can. When your body is on high alert, your patience runs thin because your system is busy scanning for the next problem. As your nervous system calms down, there’s more space between what happens and how you respond.
-
Not at all. You can simply tell me what’s been going on, in your own words. We’ll figure out together what’s happening and what kind of support would help most.
-
So normal. Sometimes the first step feels scarier than the therapy itself. The free consultation is a low pressure way to meet me, ask questions, and see whether we’re a good fit.
-
Very often, yes. Old experiences can leave your nervous system primed for danger long after the danger has passed. That’s why I work with both the anxiety you feel today and the experiences underneath it. If trauma is part of your story, you can read about my PTSD and trauma therapy.
Getting started
You don’t have to have it all figured out before you call. “I’ve been on edge and I miss feeling like myself” is more than enough to begin with.
Call or text 615-905-6132, or email davesaunderscounseling@gmail.com.
I’ll be in touch within 2 business days.
